Arrive in Colombo and travel to Anuradhapura, an ancient city that was once the capital of Sri Lanka. Begin your journey by visiting Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi, the sacred fig tree believed to be the oldest living tree with a documented history. Explore Ruwanwelisaya, an enormous stupa, and the ancient Abhayagiri Monastery, known for its remarkable ruins. Overnight in Anuradhapura.

Today, delve deeper into Anuradhapura’s history as you visit the ancient temples, stupas, and reservoirs that are scattered throughout the city. In the afternoon, head to Mihintale, where the arrival of Buddhism in Sri Lanka is said to have begun.
